  i've been lurking here for about 2 years now, but was unable to really interact because of limitations of my ipod browser (you can't post from there) and the parental controls on my computer.. .

  well 2 years later, i'm a big boy, turned 18 and moved out.

  Is there any other way to translate 1 Cor 6.9 (like the amplified version myself) in any bible translation ? Depends I guess on your thought as to whether or not the bible is inspired or if you feel it's mans biast thoughts!

  Look, nothing against you. My advice is valid. Screw everybody else, do what feels right to you and between you and the man upstairs. Not a lot else matters.

  After all, homosexuality and christianity is a whole new thread that has no doubt been done many times

  Ok, After reading this I'm gonna stick my neck out - I know that I will get slated for this but what the hell, it's a free forum? We don't just give opinions that please?

  "The WT are homophobic"

  Actually so is the bible(if you go by it)? God made Adam and Eve and not Adam and Steve and the rest of the puns. One of the biggest mistakes that any religion makes today is that God is ok with being Gay - he's not!

  Now ok, just because it's my opinion doesn't make it right in the eyes of others. I know that.

  I ask you though raf, what do you wan't cuz It's there for the taking. Change? Be honest to yourself and loose whatever? Be a bit devious and have the best of both worlds? (if that is your view).

  My advice - No man can judge you whatever you decide, have everythingthing that you want and then meet your maker.

  Again, sorry if I come across as a homophobe(I prob am) but at least I have an "each to his own attitude" and not afraid to say it!!!

  Looked this up as a serch as it's an issue locally. I did some research and I don't think that much has changed in the procedure.

  1. Talk to the person, if he doesn't desist then

  2. A talk to the cong is given, those aware of the situation are alerted and may choose to mark (withdraw from) the person.

  As far as I am aware no names are mentioned and marking is individual not congregational. The original thought of course was concerning those who were disorderly, breaking up the peace, meddling in the business of others. Marking today doesn't always follow this.

  Why do JW's downplay older WT articles?

  i was looking at brotherdan's thread about the two articles that really point out in the wtbs's own words that we must follow this organization, blah blah, and they are indeed a cult from reading those articles.

  it made me think that i would love to show my mom and sister that, but i know the response would be "so what, that is a 40 year old magazine," it was dated 1969, and 1983 was the other article i believe.. are the jw's i know the only ones who poo poo older articles and say that thinking isn't up to date anymore, that new thinking has superceded those new articles?

  even though we know that the overall thinking is the same.

  It's back to the "light getting brighter" thought. Any JW will refute an older article if the newer contains updated info. Doesn't matter how old or recent it is.
